Welcome the the Varne Watersports Club Fishing Section
MARTIN JONES - Fishing Captain - 07772 449593
Competition dates are at the bottom of the page and in the calendar.
The Varne has a very strong fishing section, recent catches have been excellent with some of the best fish coming from wrecks less than 10 miles from the club & the winter Cod fishing, only a couple of miles towards Dungeness, coming into its own at the start of December with plenty of Codling & several 20lb + fish being caught. The plaice fishing on the Varne & Bullock banks has also been outstanding but this does involve crossing the very busy shipping lanes, so please try to buddy up with another boat to help out in case of breakdowns.
One of our members, Tony Hills, also runs the local tackle shop, stocking a full range of tackle & bait as well as having a wealth of information for fishing from the Varne.
We try to organise at least one competition per month , focusing on conservation, we adopt the best specimen fish rule rather than total weight on most of these days.
For any anglers new to the club please feel free to call me on 07772 449593 (decent hours) & i will attempt to answer any questions you may have.

There will be a fishermen's evening at the club house in the near future, I just need to confirm the date doesn't clash with other events, so I will be announcing this after the next committee meeting.
